Sarah Bertochi begins with the philosophy that she can make a difference. She starts by incorporating better materials such as all natural cotton and linen, and hand printing her designs using eco-friendly water based inks. She strives to reduce the environmental impact by making thoughtful decisions as they relate to materials and construction processes.  

Sarah Bertochi’s small accessories and bag linings are made using fabric remnants - a great means of reducing waste. These choices reflect her core values: that however small, we have a responsibility to “do our part.” She understands that by embracing a slow, more sustainable approach, her methods may not reflect the least expensive nor fastest route in which to bring product to market, however, she believes it results in a better quality product overall. Sarah Bertochi Handmade places emphasis on the art of making, and she celebrates the skills required to do so.
